Outstanding talent prepares for the Tata #VP2020 Finals at intensive 2-Day Bootcamp

The virtual 2-day Bootcamp of the Tata Varsity Pitch Competition 2020, powered by NACUE, took place last week on Monday 26th October and Tuesday 27th October 2020.

Throughout the course of Day One of the Bootcamp, held in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services, the seven finalists had the opportunity to meet with seven industry experts. Each had a 30 minute one-to-one speed mentoring session to discuss key elements of their business and gain valuable feedback and knowledge from the industry experts within the fields of PR, Communication and Marketing, HR, Finance, Tech, Design, Business Development, and so forth prior to the final.

Creative & Design with Tata Consultancy ServicesPost Carbon Lab is a social enterprise offering sustainable microbial dyeing and coating services for textile applications.

Ideas with Tata CommunicationsThe Bread Brew’d Project is a social enterprise aimed at tackling child food poverty. They upcycle surplus bread to brew beer and donate their profits towards school breakfast clubs in and around Nottingham.

Tata Disruptive BusinessUniversal Simulation are a flight simulator for dentists and doctors of the future, to ensure they are prepared for patient treatment, through using haptic and VR technology to recreate the real sensations of drilling on and treating ‘real patients’, virtually.

Online Peoples’ Vote Winner ­– Project Stealth Tech is using patent-pending technology to develop a mouth wearable that helps athletes track their physiological status.

The finalists met with experts from Tata Consultancy Services: Jim Bligh (Director, Corporate Affairs, UK&I), Yogesh Chauhan (Director Corporate Sustainability), Peter Devery (Director of Communications UK & Ireland), Ankur Jain (Human Resources), Antony Kagoo (Innovation Evangelist, Communication, Media & Information Services, Europe — UK), Jennifer Stanzl (Head Of Talent Management, UK&I), G Subramanian (CTO — UK and Ireland), Keith Webb (Tata Consulting FS Partner), Daniela Camacho Vargas (HR Business Partner), and from Tata Limited: Tofayal Ahmed (Corporate Affairs Executive) and Kanchan Gokhale (Manager Finance).

Universal Simulation UK from Open University had shared their experience so far: “I have been amazed at the quality and seniority, of judges, mentors and experts within this programme. It has really helped us gear up and take things to another level at Universal Simulation UK!”

Bootcamp Day Two

The Day Two of the Bootcamp was held in partnership with The D Group — Senior leadership membership organisation, where the finalists immersed themselves into interactive sessions on the topics of Strategic Leadership, Negotiating Skills and Networking with Ed Arnold, Director of Development and Seumas Kerr CBE, Managing Director at The D Group.

The afternoon was dedicated to an interactive pitch training led by David Trayford, WOW-media. All of the finalists had the opportunity to pitch their businesses, receive valuable feedback and top tips on how to perfect their pitch for the final.
